Thermal

Wax

A wax-transfer printer is a type of thermal printer that uses a ribbon that has wax based ink in it. The print-head is heated through a resistor which heats the ink in the ribbon which subsequently is transferred to the paper where it cools and becomes permanent. A wax-transfer printer does not require special paper and is faster compared to thermal dye sublimation printers. Apart from a resolution of 300 dpi, thermal wax transfer printers also provide noise free operation.
